Changed traffic conditions at St Peters
12 Jul 2018
Motorists are advised changed traffic conditions will be in place from Friday 13 July to facilitate the intersection upgrade of May Street, Campbell Street, Bedwin Road and Unwins Bridge Road at St Peters as part of work to deliver the WestConnex New M5 local road upgrades.
A Roads and Maritime Services spokesperson said the work would be carried out in three consecutive stages and is expected to take 12 months to complete.
“Work is being carried out to upgrade the May Street, Campbell Street, Unwins Bridge Road and Bedwin Road intersection at St Peters to improve traffic flow and for the safety of motorists and pedestrians,” the spokesperson said.
“As part of this upgrade, Bedwin Road on the northern side of the intersection will be widened and realigned.”
To facilitate this upgrade, a number of changed traffic conditions will be in place from Friday 13 July until October, weather permitting, to complete the first stage of work.
- No right turn from Unwins Bridge Road into Campbell Street;
- May Street will be reduced to one lane in each direction near the intersection;
- Bedwin Road will be reduced to one lane in each direction with a right turning lane from Bedwin Road into Unwins Bridge Road at the intersection; and
- A left turn will be permitted from Princes Highway northbound into Campbell Street for vehicles under 6 metres.
Traffic control and a reduced speed limit may also be in place for the safety of workers and motorists. Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions, follow the directions of signs and traffic control, and allow extra travel time through the area.
Roads and Maritime Services thanks the community for its patience while work is carried out.
As part of the WestConnex New M5, local roads around the St Peters Interchange in St Peters, Mascot and Alexandria are being upgraded and widened.
