Ramsay Street Haberfield lane closures
19 Sep 2016
Motorists are being advised to expect delays on Ramsay Street, Haberfield while water utility works are completed to support construction of the M4 East tunnels. From Sunday, 11 September 2016, works on the newly installed water main will take place between the intersections of Ramsay Street and Dobroyd Parade and Ramsay Street and Alt Street, Haberfield. Sydney Water crews will work continuously from 8pm Sunday to 11am Friday, 16 September to limit community disturbance and ensure the safety of workers and motorists. The local water supply will be maintained at all times. During the work, two eastbound lanes on Ramsay Street will be closed with one lane of traffic continuing to operate in each direction. Project Director Terry Chapman said the patience and understanding of residents and motorists was greatly appreciated. “Work is underway to extend the M4 motorway underground, which means there will be unavoidable delays for road users from time to time,” Mr Chapman said. “We don't want people to be caught out, so they need to plan their journeys in advance, check live traffic for the latest updates and allow for extra traveling time.” Alt Street, Haberfield will be temporarily closed between Martin Street and Ramsay Street and signs will direct motorists on a detour. “We encourage people who use these roads to follow signs and detours.” Traffic controllers will also manage a temporary pedestrian crossing on Ramsay Street near Walker Avenue while the exiting crossing near Alt Street is temporarily closed. No bus routes or bus stops are affected by this work. For the latest traffic information, visit www.livetraffic.com.
